My Journey

Robert is the Owner & CEO of Grigore Counselling. He holds a Master of Counselling Psychology degree from Adler University, and is a Certified EMDR Therapist & Approved EMDR Consultant through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), and follows the ethical regulations of the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

Robert opened Grigore Counselling in 2015, after contracting his services to the BC Society for Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse (BCSMSSA) for several years following his successful practicum. Robert knew that the experience of treating these men would be invaluable to his development as a psychotherapist.

It wasn't until he began his training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), that he found his true calling. Robert discovered that EMDR was the answer that he had envisioned since he was a little boy (before he even knew he wanted to be a therapist). Robert has always loved helping people, and now he does - faster and more deeply than he could have ever imagined possible!

With his advanced training in EMDR, Robert developed his signature treatment package: The One & Done - Total Immersion Package, where his clients can expect to be cured of their ailments in a matter of days in most cases.

After his successful launch of his O&D-TIP, Robert developed his prized treatment package, and for what he knows will be his professional legacy: The One & Done - Legacy Package.

Prior to my training in psychotherapy I was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for a band called Earthbound George. The name symbolized the united nature of all humans being alive on Earth. "George" represented a common name that appears often within my family line - I used to joke that "everyone" was named George!

All of our songs were originals, and were meant to both inspire others to think more deeply about their living experience, while also being a medium to release my own feelings. Music for many years was my only therapy. I used it to release the angst I was feeling in relation to my challenging and often abusive relationships. I had no conscious idea I was worthy of love, but somewhere in my unconscious I knew because it came out in my music.

With no formal training in music I just used my "ear" and played around with chord shapes that sounded good in relation to each other. My band was constantly in fluctuation between awe and frustration at the process of playing along with me. I was always willing to host, but seldom a guest - meaning, others could play along with me, but I couldn't follow them because I never learned a single scale!

Earthbound George ultimately broke up in 2015. There was a possibility at one point to have taken the band further with an offer from an independent record label, but it was not The Universe's plan. Speaking for myself only, I recognized that I would not be able to make music my number one priority as I wasn't emotionally ready to immerse myself into music theory and practice 10+ hours per day. I made the incredibly difficult decision to dissolve the band and focus all my efforts into psychotherapy because I felt my creativity could make a bigger impact in this direction.
